SOTERMUN, the development cooperation organisation of the Confederación de la Unión Sindical Obrera (USO), contributed to the purchase of basic supplies such as food, water, clothing, mattresses and other items for people affected by the devastating impact of Hurricane Fiona in the Dominican Republic. The hurricane hit hardest in the Eastern Region, and especially the provinces of La Altagracia, El Seibo and Hato Mayor, with winds of up to 140 kilometres per hour.
The solidarity action was organised in collaboration with SOTERMUN’s partner in the country, the Sociocultural Movement of Haitian Workers – MOSCTHA, which used its offices as a reception centre for the distribution of food, water, clothes, mattresses and anything else that might help improve living conditions for those affected by the disaster.
