Trade union take on SDG implementation - Senegal
Trade unions in Senegal highlight two crosscutting barriers to the achievement of the SDGs: low social protection coverage and a high level of informality. While their participation has been solicited to a certain extent, notably on climate change, more involvement of the social partners is needed if these barriers are to be overcome. Trade unions also highlight the need for better monitoring provisions in order to obtain verifiable, transparent and comparable data, particularly on informal work. In order to fully mobilise civil society for the realisation of the SDGs, trade unions recommend a deepening of transparency and consultation provisions.
