A trade union focus on the SDGs - Colombia

With high levels of income inequality and low social protection coverage, much remains to be done to achieve the SDGs in Colombia. Trade unions warn that provisions for civil society consultation and the integration of social dialogue have been particularly poor. Alarmingly, trade unions have been targeted by violence, with 19 killings and 125 cases of threats against trade unionists in 2017 alone. If policies are to result in lasting improvements for working people and their families, trade unions will need to be involved in the design, planning and implementation process through open and transparent consultations.
