TUCA publishes its Development Cooperation strategy

The Trade Union Confederation of the Americas (TUCA) launches the strategic document “International Cooperation for the development of workers of the Americas”.
The draft document is the result of the most recent meeting of the TUCA representatives that are members of the Trade Union Development Cooperation Network (TUDCN), organised with support from the European Commission in Buenos Aires on the 29 and 30 of July 2013.

Both the English and Spanish versions can be found in the sección de documentos (documents section) on the TUCA webpage.

The meeting was attended by the TUCA General Secretary, the head of the ITUC/TUDCN, the members of the TUCA Development Network and other colleagues from the CGT/UOCRA who hosted the meeting. The document was shared with all TUCA affiliated and fraternal organisations at the end of the meeting and their contributions were included to enrich the document.

Its objective is to outline the TUCA’s vision for an alternative model for development, incorporating a solidarity and rights-based approach and reaffirming the role of the trade union movement as an essential actor in the design of this model. Furthermore, it aims to define the current development cooperation challenges and opportunities in order to elaborate the development cooperation strategy of the TUCA and its governing bodies in accordance with Resolution 11 adopted during the last TUCA Congress.
