During the launch of a new Arab women trade unionists’ network (10 countries) in Tunis on 8 March 2011, the general secretary of the ITUC congratulated the UGTT on the crucial role it played in the success of the Tunisian revolution. Sharan Burrow also pledged the continued backing of the ITUC, to support Tunisia in its transition to democracy.
