Over the next three months, the ITUC will bring our global trade union campaign For Democracy into the heart of the some of the world’s most consequential institutions: the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 79), the Summit of the Future (SOTF), negotiations for a binding business and human rights treaty, the Annual Meetings of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF), and the annual Conference of the Parties (COP 29).
We will advance the demands of working people, calling for greater accountability at global institutions; a crucial step towards countering the global threat to democracy posed by the lobbying power of large corporations. The ITUC report, Corporate Underminers of Democracy, exposes the corporate assault on democracy and demonstrates how reformed global institutions, which are more responsive to the needs of working people, can play a pivotal role in halting these attacks and deliver a New Social Contract.

- Here you can watch the webinar, Corporate Underminers and the Fight For Democracy in Global Institutions, which launched the report and includes speakers from unions around the world, global union federations, civil society groups and the ITUC.
- Here you can sign the petition demanding a binding treaty on corporate power.
In April, we began our first action round, focused on the fight For Democracy in Societies, where unions are defending fundamental freedoms, mobilising for elections, standing in solidarity with workers under attack, and advancing progressive tax and a new social contract in their countries.
