Dear {{contact.firstname}},
The world is at a historic crossroads. Three years after the launch of the Decade of Action for the SDGs, the Covid-19 pandemic has highlighted the need for societies to become self-sufficient in the production of essential goods; the climate crisis constantly exposes the need to decouple economic growth from environmental degradation; and the rise of artificial intelligence requires a push for sustainable and human rights-based innovations.
These are all trade union issues on which workers must have a voice. Therefore, at the upcoming High-Level Political Forum, the ITUC will advocate for trade union priorities for SDG 9 on resilient and sustainable infrastructure, industrialisation and innovation. Our delegation will echo the words of Liz Shuler (AFL-CIO, USA):
“Workers need to be at the table to lead innovation that serves social progress and the environment.”
