Turkey: Stop Human and Trade Union Rights Violations Now

Pressure, threats, violence, legal harassment and imprisonment are the daily lot of countless trade union and human rights activists in Turkey.

This video documentary (27’) entitled "Living like a Tree", produced by Protection International, places these constant violations in their historical context. It gives a voice to the trade unionists victims of the Izmir trial of November 2009, and also introduces us to the union activists from the Tulza shipyards, who denounce the unpaid wages, the threats, violence and condemnations.

The International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC), the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC), the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ), Amnesty International (AI), the FIDH (International Federation of Human Rights) and Protection International (PI) are making an urgent appeal to the Turkish government and the European Union to guarantee the application of policies to protect trade unionists, journalists and all those defending human and minority rights in Turkey.

The video documentary "Living like a Tree" (27’) is available in German, English, Spanish, French and Turkish.
