The high level meeting which might bring low level outcomes

Next Tuesday, ministers from around the world will meet in Mexico to discuss development cooperation.

The draft communiqué of the meeting is entitled "inclusive development".

But, as it stands, the communiqué promotes exclusive development, according to civil society.

Trade unions are especially worried that their demands have not been heard.

Along with civil society, they have fought for development justice by promoting the Human Rights Based Approach.

But all references to the Human Rights Based Approach have been removed from the Meeting draft communiqué. It is hard to imagine ministers talking about development without mentioning the right to decent work, to essential services, to social protection, etc.
