Nepal: unions advocate peace to secure development

Nepal is struggling to recover from the years of civil war that tore the country apart. In response to attacks by Maoist unionists, the democratic trade unions are advocating dialogue. Their aim is to unite workers behind priorities such as the introduction of social security, to bring them out of poverty. At the forefront of the fight to defend migrants and domestic workers, they are also making progress with organising the informal economy.
