The aim of the campaign was to highlight the important role that local unionists and partner organisations play when carrying out projects in low-and middle-income countries.

With these videos, and by focusing on the day-to-day work of local unionists, Union to Union hope to increase awareness about the importance of international trade union development cooperation. Promoting stories from local unionists also shows the positive impact of the international work that Swedish trade unions and Union to Union are engaged in.

Testimonies from Ghana, Ukraine, Indonesia, Colombia, Israel, Kenya, the Philippines, Peru, Malaysia, Great Britain and Brazil were included in the campaign.

In one testimony, Adwoa Sakyia from Ghana shares her thoughts on the challenges
she faces in her work as Regional Women’s Coordinator for IUF Africa:
“As a trade unionist, my challenge is when some employers do not accept the fact that decent work promotes harmony and increases productivity”.

Focusing on achievements in her work, she notes:
“I am proud, that working together with my colleagues we have been able to make women issues visible in occupational safety and health related matters”.

The overall response from people asked to participate in the campaign has been very positive. For Union to Union, this shows that participants are keen to talk about why they are involved in the trade union movement.

On a national level, the campaign kickstarts Union to Unions work ahead of the upcoming Swedish elections in September 2022. The different stories from unionists across the globe help to show how the world, the economy and the labor market are interconnected.
