Women’s equal participation and leadership and the empowerment of women and girls is of critical importance to promoting peace, preventing conflicts, enabling recovery and building resilience.

But women continue to be underrepresented at all levels of decision-making worldwide and participation of women in peace negotiations close to non-existent.

The global community continues to overspend on military action while underinvesting in gender equality, putting the world at risk of renewed conflicts instead of promoting peace and stability.
