ITUC Message Writing Workshop

Description: Creating messages that cut through noisy and competitive media and social media spaces and reach busy people from union members to politicians is a challenge. By the end of the training, participants will have a better command of writing messages that will target a specific audience for their campaign and its application in all forms of communications.

This 90-minute workshop, led by ITUC, will cover how to craft a message with evidence, an engaging worker focused narrative, and a call to action. Participants will be encouraged to take part in the discussion and group exercises learning from the experiences of a global network of union communicators.


ITUC Media Relations Workshop

Description: The media - newspapers print or online, magazines, radio, and television - remain an important way for unions to reach workers, trade union members, the community, employers and politicians.

This 90-minute workshop, led by the ITUC, will cover what makes a story newsworthy, how to pitch stories to the media, and developing relationships with journalists. Participants will get to know the news making process and be encouraged to take part in the discussion and group exercises learning from the experiences of a global network of union communicators.


ITUC Activist Email Writing Workshop

Description: Writing emails that mobilize activists and union members requires creativity, purpose, focus, and a basic understanding of data analytics.

This 90-minute introductory session, led by the ITUC, will explore best practices in email communications that drive action informed by data analytics. Participants will participate in group exercises and discussions and write an email for a campaign they are involved in.


ITUC Newsletter Writing Workshop

Description: Newsletters continue to hold an important place in communicating to workers and union members. Email newsletters are a cost-effective way of reaching large numbers of workers.

This 90-minute workshop, led by the ITUC, will cover tips for creating engaging content with text, photos, worker stories, and list building. Participants will be encouraged to take part in group exercises.


ITUC Social Media Workshop

Description: There is an explosion of social media channels from Tik Tok to Twitter. Do you know what social media channels your union audiences are using? Using social media for union communications and campaigns will help participants navigate which social media channels to use and why.

This 90-minute introductory workshop, led by the ITUC, will cover six elements of building an effective social media strategy: identifying goals and your audience, content production, social media marketing and advertising, community management, and social media metrics.
