The contribution of social dialogue to the 2030 Agenda: Promoting a Just Transition towards sustainable economies and societies for all

What is Just Transition and how is it achievable? This research paper shows through existing good practices that Just Transition is possible when unions sit around the table in social dialogue with employers and governments.

For unions, a Just Transition is the pathway to high ambition as it builds hope and trust in a secure future. Unions want to ensure that workers’ wages, security of employment, health, safety, and social protection are guaranteed in economic transition processes. And the most needed element to get us there is social dialogue that can facilitate planning processes based on the right to bargain collectively, reaching negotiated agreements and granting genuine partnership.

In this publication you will also find good practices of Just Transition processes forged through social dialogue at national level, as well as sectoral level, within multinational companies.
