Trade union take on SDG implementation - Japan

An adequate stakeholder engagement mechanism has been established in Japan, in particular compared to other Asia-Pacific countries reporting at HLPF 2018. Certain questions are raised as to the resources allocated to the implementation of the 2030 Action Plan as well as to social expenditure. Trade union analysis shows that SDG implementation could be improved by promoting civil engagement, starting with the strengthening people’s freedoms of association and collective bargaining rights.
