The Summit brought together two events: the Conference on Environment and Development in Asia and the Pacific (MCED) and the Forum of Ministers and Environment Authorities of Asia Pacific. Co-organised by UN ESCAP and UN Environment, the event brought together regional institutional actors, UN Member States and stakeholders. Prior to the event, a CSO Forum was organised to promote exchange and help coordinate the participation of civil society representatives.

FFW was represented by its Vice-President Julius Cainglet, who is also a member of the TUDCN Asia-Pacific Steering Committee and the Focal Point for Workers and Trade Union Constituency of the Asia Pacific Regional CSO Engagement Mechanism (AP-RCEM). During the exchanges in plenary, Mr Cainglet was able to make two interventions. Mr Cainglet highlighted the need for a “just transition framework that considers compensation, skills training, job placement, social protection, social dialogue and respect for the rights of workers and the community who will be affected by a shift to a green economy”.
