In November 2014, in light of the ongoing challenge by the Employers Group to the ILO supervisory system, the ILO Governing Body requested the chairs of the ILO Committee of Experts and the Committee on Freedom of Association to prepare a detailed report on the functioning of the ILO supervisory mechanisms. This document provides ideas to strengthen the ILO supervisory system so that it provides better oversight of country practice, improved follow-up and thus better outcomes for workers and their unions.
