Regional Meeting of the Americas Cooperation Network

The Trade Union Development Cooperation Network (TUDCN) met from 24th to 26th February to discuss how trade unions are actors of development and to elaborate its annual action plan.

The Trade Union Development Cooperation Network (TUDCN) represents today 15 national trade unions from 10 countries in the Americas Region (Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Peru and Venezuela).

Together with representatives from the ITUC, ILO-ACTRAV, UNDP and FAO, TUCA Cooperation Network discussed key concepts in the development cooperation agenda, such as the relationship between decent work and sustainable development, the post-2015 agenda and the role of the private sector in development.

In addition, the trade union delegation further elaborated its vision of development and cooperation based on rights and taking as reference points the Principles defined by the Trade Union Cooperation Network, Resolution 11 of the last TUCA Congress and the process to build a Development Platform of the Americas (PLADA).

Lastly, an action plan was drafted with concrete commitments for impacts, trainings, coordination and for a stronger network as well as a stronger Development Institute of the Americas (IDEAM), a TUCA initiative. Those commitments reveal the Network vision: give a space and voice to trade unions where development cooperation policies are being discussed and defined for Latin America.
