Aide de l’UE à Haïti - pas de progrès sans le travail décent

The lack of recognition of the international labour standards and the right to social protection is one of the reasons for the perpetuation of extreme poverty in Haiti. Despite continuous efforts of ITUC, ETUC and Haitian trade unions, EU’s aid programmes for the country still make no mention of the Decent Work Agenda among their priorities or principles. In a letter to EU Development Commissioner, Andris Piebalgs, trade unions remind that without Decent Work principles at the core, the efforts for reconstruction and development of Haiti will not succeed. In their Roadmap, formulated in April 2010, trade unions present in detail their perspective on the necessary prerequisites for Haiti’s reconstruction.
