Congratulations on what has been a busy half-year for the ITUC and affiliates in advancing and defending rights, job security and wages.
We can be proud of the outcomes of the 100th anniversary conference of the ILO with a Centenary Declaration for the Future of Work, the historic Convention Against Violence and Harassment at Work and the exposure of some of the worst cases of attacks on rights in the Committee on the Application of Standards.
The workplace actions on 26 June to advance demands to climate proof our work - CPOW - were inspiring. I ask you to note the call for a week of action on 20 – 27 September to demand increased ambition on climate action and Just Transition.
In July, our representatives will report on how governments are performing on the Sustainable Development Goals at the High Level Political Forum in New York. At the end of August, union leaders from G20 countries will join RENGO to lobby G20 Labour and Employment Ministers for secure employment, wages, freedom of association and collective bargaining along with social protection for all workers. On 7 October, World Day for Decent Work, we will focus on our demands for investment in the care economy.
The next six months look like they will be just as busy as the first half of the year!
