Israel, Histadrut

The Histadrut will take the following measures in the context of 18 February:

1. Meeting of the Histadrut Executive Leadership and discussing the importance of the struggle and the ITUC General Council resolution regarding this matter;
2. Publishing the action day on the Histadrut social media and website;
3. Publishing the action day on the biggest Israeli news site.

We would like to draw you attention to the fact that In Israel, in general the right of strike is being protected by the government and the employers. In the event that this right is violated, the Histadrut protects the workers and refers to the labour courts to ensure that the right to strike will be validated in our struggles.

The government of Israel will refer the dispute to the International Court of Justice under the condition that all means of negotiations between all parties will be exhausted.

In Israel the right to strike stemmed from the legal rulings of the labour courts. The labour courts recognize the interpretation of the ILO 87 and 98 Conventions regarding the right to strike. Both the government and the employers recognize and respect the labour court rulings regarding this matter as well as others.
