Georgia: Labour code tears fundamental rights to shreds

The highly deregulatory labour code adopted by Georgia in 2006 has under-
mined fundamental workers rights. This “the market is king” policy has done
nothing to create decent jobs and instead has led to rising poverty among
Georgian workers, two thirds of whom are still in the informal economy. The
Georgian unions are fighting back.
