For Democracy that Delivers

In a world where the very survival of democracy is under threat, workers across the globe suffer the consequences of policies that erode their rights, diminish their quality of life and threaten the fabric of our societies.

As the largest democratic movement in the world, trade unions of working people are uniquely placed to define, defend and expand democracy, not only at the polls but equally importantly at work, in society and in global institutions.

"To restore confidence in democracy, national leaders must urgently expand democracy and deliver what workers need." ITUC General Secretary Luc Triangle’s 2025 message

FOR DEMOCRACY THAT DELIVERS

Trade unions are campaigning For Democracy that Delivers. We know that the best way to restore confidence in democracy is to ensure that institutions reflect the will, and meet the needs, of the majority of workers worldwide.

Governments will find a clear roadmap in the ITUC’s Strategic Objectives for the campaign for a New Social Contract that guarantees peace and collective power, social justice and prosperity for all, and a just transition and worker-centred digital transformation.

ITUC affiliated trade unions are mobilising across the world in advance of five major moments of tripartite and intergovernmental decision-making. For each round of action, the ITUC organises public webinars, petitions and calls to action. It also coordinates directly with unions at every level, as well as social movements, to support their campaigns.
