Next month the world’s largest democratic organisation will meet to set out the mandate for the global trade union movement for the next four years.

7 October: World Day for Decent Work
This year, the 7 October is dedicated to the millions of workers seeking wage justice. You can download the social media pack here and get involved on the day.
More than half of households are struggling to get by on their current incomes and 10% cannot afford essentials such as housing, energy and food. The world needs a new social contract, with wage justice at its heart.
29 October: Global Day of Action for Care
The world has a global deficit of 575 million jobs that must be closed. We know that a big step on the road to closing this gap is to invest massively in care. The ILO estimates that a global investment of 4% of GDP in universal childcare and long-term care would create 280 million jobs by 2030, with 19 million more by 2035.
This Global Day of Action for Care we are calling for immediate progress by governments to invest in care and end discriminatory practices in the world of work to restart progress for women. See our guide on how to campaign for investment in care and use it.
Thanks to trade union activism, we are seeing progress in making the world of work free from violence and harassment. See from September on how unions around the world are campaigning around C190 to make this a reality.
ENGAGE-Asia Programme 2023
Applications are now open for this training programme, jointly developed by the Global Labour University and the School of Labor and Industrial Relations, the University of the
Philippines, with the support of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES). The curriculum covers many areas of the new social contract: labour and employment, development, wages and productivity, climate justice, just transition and changes in the world of work.
