The OECD week took place in Paris on June 2-4, 2015. The OECD Forum was followed by the Ministerial Council Meeting, under the premise to "unlock growth and investment" for "people’s future". Ahead of the meetings and its own plenary session, the TUAC released its priorities for the Ministerial as well as a policy checklist towards reducing inequality. Various trade union speakers featured in public sessions of the Forum and in discussions at the Ministerial itself to bring these messages to OECD decision makers.
FfD3 seminar in Belgium: Addis Ababa, what’s at stake?
The Belgium Federal Council for Sustainable Development (FRDO-CFDD) organised a seminar on Finance for Development on 11 June 2015, in preparation for the Addis Ababa Conference on 13-16 July 2015. The Belgium Trade Unions CGSLB, CSC and FGTB invited Matt Simonds from the TUDCN-ITUC to give a trade union viewpoint on this important theme.
In line with the priorities set out by the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC), the TUC is giving priority to empowerment of women and promotion of gender equality in its development interventions, notably, in Bangladesh, Nicaragua and Tunisia. The projects concerned have been funded out of TUC Aid’s own resources and are due to be completed in 2015-16.
