Put the rights back in development

A day before a High Level meeting on development cooperation, civil society organisations are meeting in the CSO Forum. The TUDCN is leading a session on the Human Rights Based Approach (HRBA) to development in this forum.

Because poverty is the lack of rights. Because development is not just about delivering services to poor people, it is about providing rights to all citizens.

Participants in the HRBA session of the CSO Forum reflect on how to ensure governments and companies respect the right to freedom of association, labour rights as well as social rights, indigeneous rights, etc.

The TUDCN is leading a working group of civil society organisations on HRBA. It is hoped that the group recommendations will be part of the High level meeting communiqué. Up to now, it is not.
