Once the strike was launched, the employer agreed to negotiations, and after 6 hours of talks, agreement was reached on overtime pay, a fair bonus system and bonuses for the length of service and qualifications.
“Management should have had the good sense to negotiate from the beginning. Thanks to the solidarity of the railway workers and their determination to achieve a just settlement, good sense has prevailed and the workers and their families will now get fair reward for their work,” said ITUC General Secretary Sharan Burrow.
