Social protection at the heart of the development agenda

The High Level Event that ITUC co-hosted together with the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the European Development Days on placing social protection at the heart of the development agenda attracted not only eminent speakers, but also a full room of development professionals interested in the topic. ITUC Secretary General Sharan Burrow, European Commissioner Andris Piebalgs and French Minister for Development Pascal Canfin were only some of the distinguished speakers who, stressed the importance of social protection as a crucial element of developmentpolicy and practice.
