Nicaragua: progress and obstacles in the maquilas

30 May 2011: Pedro Ortega Mendez is general secretary of the national federation of textile, clothing, leather and footwear unions FNSTVPC and an active member of the Sandinista trade union centre CST. He gives us a description of the conditions that workers, and especially pregnant women, have to cope with in the maquilas. These working conditions have deteriorated with the economic and environmental crisis.
