How DAC members work with CSOs in Development Cooperation Report

More than ten civil society organisations networks and fifteen donor agencies took part in a seminar discussing the findings of the OECD report on the means of collaboration of DAC members with civil society organisations (CSOs) in the field of development cooperation.

Coinciding with the Working Party on Aid Effectiveness meeting in Paris on October 3rd , the Development Assistance Committee of OECD (OECD DAC) held a seminar discussing the results of the How DAC members work with CSOs in Development Cooperation report. The discussions stressed the importance of CSOs in development cooperation. Over 13% of the Official Development Assistance (ODA) is managed by CSO’s in the countries who belong to the DAC. Still, even though the aid that is channelled through CSO is constantly growing, the contribution of ODA to CSO has not increased over the last 10 years.

The TUDCN delegation has contributed to the seminar, stressing the need for recognizing trade unions as development actors in their own right and announcing the upcoming study on the donor support systems for trade union development cooperation activities that will be published early next year. The delegation suggested carrying out a joint reflection process, building on the outcomes of both reports.
