Halfway to 2030: A Trade Union Take on the EU and the SDGs

This research provides an independent and alternative narrative to the European Union’s first voluntary review of the SDGs to the UN High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development.

The report assesses the European Union’s performance on the SDGs. It examines the level of alignment of EU policies with the SDGs and SDG 8 in particular, as well as the role the EU plays as a global actor in the multilateral context led by the United Nations. It concludes with trade union recommendations for improving the alignment of key EU policy processes with the SDGs, as well as the bloc’s external actions.

This study was carried out through the prism of three composite indicators from the ITUC’s Global Observatory on SDG 8: economic well-being, job quality and labour vulnerability.
