These reports constitute an independent and worker-centred alternative to the official narrative of governments. They underpin trade union advocacy in favor of development policies that consider workers’ demands for decent work, rights, fair wages, social protection, equality, inclusion, and just transitions.

The designation of Namibia as a pathfinder country of the Global Accelerator on Jobs and Social Protection for Just Transition has improved the implementation of SDG 8 and enabled trade unions to engage with the government, but only on ad hoc basis. However, TUCNA’s overall assessment is that there is little transparency in how SDG implementation is being monitored and not enough resources allocated to the implementation of the Goals.
