Policies ITUC Briefing Paper on the
Post-2015 Development Agenda
Full
employment and decent work as well as universal social protection should be
in the focus of the new UN development framework, that will replace the
Millennium Development Goals when they expire in 2015, states the newly
published ITUC Briefing Paper. The document outlines the key challenges as
well as key policy proposals for the new framework. Policies ITUC paper on inequality in the Post-2015

In its
new paper titled “A new distribution of income and power” the ITUC explores
the role of the Decent Work Agenda (including social protection and
collective bargaining) in reducing economic and social inequality in
countries of all level of income as well as the suggestions on how to
integrate this approach in the post-2015 framework. The paper is a
contribution to the UN Thematic Consultations on inequality in the Post-2015

in a CSO roundtable with members of the High Level Panel on the Post-2015 Agenda
The
second meeting of the UN Secretary-General’s High-level Panel of Eminent
Persons on the Post-2015 Development Agenda (HLP) took place in London on
between October 31st and November 2nd. The panellists discussed the issues of
household poverty and how it can be addressed in the new framework. The panel
members took also part in a roundtable with civil society representatives,
including an ITUC delegate. The next HLP meeting will take place in January. Policies Trade union input on the EC’s

TUDCN
stresses a number of missing and controversial points in the recently
announced EC’s draft Multiannual Indicative Programme on Civil Society

As a
follow up to a seminar on the role of social dialogue in development that
took place earlier this year in cooperation between the ITUC and the European
Commission, the TUDCN presents their perspective on how to address this topic

On
September 25 and 26th over 40 trade unionists from around the globe gathered
in Istanbul to discuss the strategy for trade union engagement in the UN
Post-2015 Development Framework process. The fruitful discussions were fueled by the inputs and reactions of the representatives

words, it has been presented and a series of consultations have been
announced where the associations concerned can make their views known.
