Policies UN High Level Panel on Post-2015 –
three Major Groups missing
ITUC
welcomes the appointment by the Secretary General of the UN High Level Panel
on Post-2015 Development Agenda. While we appreciate the geographic and
gender balance among the panel members, we are deeply disappointed that none
of the members have experience in labour or social policy nor represent
unions or broader civil society. News from the network Development Education and Awareness Raising in the
trade union movement
Trade
unions have been active of Development Education and Awareness Raising (DEAR)
for a long time, international solidarity being in their founding principles.
But in the times of the global economic crisis and increasing interdependency,
the engagement of workers and trade unions in building understanding and
engagement in global development processes among the TU members as well as
the wide public has never been more crucial. In order to support DEAR in the
trade union movement, TUDCN is planning a seminar on this topic. News from the network TUDCN plan for 2012
The
calendar of TUDCN activities in the second half of 2012 is now available. News from the network The Director of SOTERMUN undertakes
a solidarity mission to Paraguay
From
the 18 of July 2012, the Director of SOTERMUN-USO, Manuel Zaguirre,
will be in Paraguay to express in situ solidarity with the workers and the
Paraguayan people and to support the constitutionally elected president,
Fernando Lugo, overthrown recently following a so-called “parliamentary
coup”, unanimously condemned by Latin-American governments and all the
Continent’s democratic organisations. News from the network Reform
Process for State-owned Companies - The CSC condemns the savage
privatisations manoeuvres
Despite
widespread criticism, the flawed government reform process for state-owned
companies has reached full cruising speed. These reforms, considered seriously
flawed for a wide variety of reasons, notably the exclusion of workers at a
very early stage have been severely criticised by trade unions and resulted
in protest marches led by the “Intersyndicale nationale du Congo”. |
